Celtic already have the Scottish League Cup in the bag. What made the triumph even more sweeter is the fact that they defeated the Rangers in the final to get it. A brace from Kyogo Furuhashi at Hampden Park secured the first piece of silverware for the season. But the Hoops would clearly have their eyes on more.

They are leading the Premiership title race by nine points. On the other hand, the club are in the semi finals of the Scottish Cup as well.

Thus, a treble is still on the table. And while it might be a bit too early to look that far ahead, Celtic would surely want to win every domestic competition if they can. Of course, that is always the target at Parkhead.

One would think that the Rangers would be desperate to stop that from happening. But it looks like Ally McCoist is more concerned about improvement rather than winning the Scottish Cup. As reported by the Daily Record, the Ibrox legend told Viaplay:

"“No, I don’t think they have to win it. They will clearly want to win it as it’s massive for them.“They will want to prevent Celtic from winning the treble, it looks like they will win the league although there is still a lot of football to be played. Continued improvement, that’s where I am at on it.“There has been improvement clearly since Michael came in. Results have been good, the level of performances have been better, even though it wasn’t brilliant here. In an ideal situation they would want to win the cup but do they have to win the cup? I would have to say no.”"

McCoist makes unexpected Rangers claim despite Celtic pushing for a potential treble this season

If Celtic do not completely slip up, they should be able to get over the finish line in the league. With 10 more games to be played, they are nine points ahead of the Rangers. Of course, anything can happen in football and they have to treat every upcoming match as a final.

On the other hand, they are in the semis of the Scottish Cup. Nothing is guaranteed, especially in the knockout stages of a cup competition. Thus, it remains to be seen if the Hoops are able to navigate through it.

Something that one has to admit is that Celtic must be considered favourites from here on. On the other hand, one also has to question whether McCoist’s comments are a sign of lack of confidence in his former side’s chances.
