Celtic have already won their first piece of silverware for the season, clinching the Scottish League Cup by defeating the Rangers a couple of weeks back in the final at Hampden Park thanks to a Kyogo Furuhashi brace. There were some worries about whether the Hoops would slip up after the big win. They have not.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have continued to rack up the wins. They have maintained their nine point lead at the top of the league table, with ten more games left to be played in the Premiership. On the other hand, they booked their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals with a win over Hearts away at Tynecastle Park.
Now, the important thing for Celtic is to finish the season strong. There is a potential treble still on the table for them.
Postecoglou does seem to believe that his side are getting stronger every week. As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, when asked if they will be hard to stop if they keep up this form, the Celtic manager said:
"“You hit the nail on the head by saying ‘if’. There is always the possibility you won’t if you don’t concentrate, if you aren’t disciplined or work hard every day.“This group push each other to be the best they can be. As a consequence of that, our performances have been really strong and are getting stronger. We look a stronger and better team every week.”"
Postecoglou makes impressive Celtic declaration
That would be ideal as well, if Celtic can continue to get better. They have two more trophies left to play for and when the job is done, they can celebrate.
It is impressive how much of a winning mentality Postecoglou has brought to the club. The season before he arrived, the club had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership. On top of that, they had seen several of their most important players leave the summer afterwards.
Thus, Postecoglou had a tough task on his hands to say the least. And the Australian has been successful in doing a better job than most people would have expected when he arrived. He has three trophies already in the cabinet, and more could be on the way.
