Celtic have been very impressive with their scouting and recruitment in recent times. That has led to them rebuilding a squad that was in disarray when Ange Postecoglou arrived in the summer of 2021, in such a short period of time. So much so that they have already won three trophies since then and more could be set to come before the campaign comes to a close.
One the signings that has gone a bit under the radar is that of Sead Haksabanovic. He was brought in in the summer from Rubin Kazan and had started to show what he was capable of before the World Cup break.
The gap did end up disrupting the momentum that he had built up for himself though, and now, he finds himself as mostly an impact substitute. He has impressed in that role as well, and if he continues to put in the big performances, sooner or later, he will find himself back in the starting XI.
Haksabanovic has had an interesting career to say the least. He already found himself in the Premier League as a teenager, back at West Ham United and was expected to have a bright future at the club. But it looks like the arrival of David Moyes ended up having a negative impact on his development.
Joe Hart explains how Celtic winger failed due to David Moyes
As reported by the Glasgow Times, Hart said about Haksabanovic:
"“He’s a really hard-working guy, really humble guy with a great edge to him and he starred often daily in training, especially under Slaven Bilic.“We all felt like he had a huge future at West Ham. David Moyes then came in and had different feelings towards him and a few of us but that’s football.“That’s how it works. He’s gone out, he’s worked hard and I was really, really happy to hear and see that he was going to be linked with this club to see his development.“I’m not surprised that he’s at the level he’s at. Like I say, he’s first and foremost a really hard-working player and there’s an awful lot of talent. There’s a lot more to come.”"
Of course, Hart and Haksabanovic were teammates at West Ham United for a short period of time. But now find themselves on the same side again, at Celtic.
It remains to be seen how things turn out for Haksabanovic moving forward. While he might have failed at West Ham United, it does feel like he has a bright future ahead of himself at Celtic.
