Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, is a man in demand at the moment. Not too long ago, it had looked like the Australian was never even going to get his chance to manage in Europe. But he has done a remarkable job since arriving in Glasgow. And it should come as no surprise that he is being linked with a move away from the club, and to the Premier League.
Every time a Premier League club sacks a manager these days, it looks like Postecoglou is one of the first names to be linked with them as a potential replacement. We have already seen him being rumoured with a move to the likes of Everton, Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton, Wolves and more.
The latest name to be added to that list is that of Tottenham Hotspur. Rumours broke out earlier that his name was on a shortlist of managers to replace Antonio Conte.
Of course, those kind of links would be a worry for Celtic fans. But it is clear that Postecoglou is focused only on the job at hand, and not on the rumours. As reported by Sky Sports, the Australian said:
"“I don’t look at it at all, it’s just not of interest to me.“I don’t wake up and get a daily briefing on the latest gossip, whether that’s football or non-football related.“I get up every morning and come to work and deal with what’s in front of me.“The rest of it doesn’t mean anything to me, doesn’t affect me, doesn’t affect the people around me.“Like most things, people want to have something to talk about and they pick things that are fairly obscure and you can run with without worrying too much whether there is actually any evidence behind it.”"
Celtic boss breaks silence regarding rumours linking him with Tottenham Hotspur
That is exactly what Celtic fans would have wanted to hear. All they can ask from Postecoglou is for him to be focused on the job at hand, as we enter the business end of the season and a treble is still up for grabs.
Celtic have already won the Scottish League Cup and they are leading the league title race by nine points with just ten more games left to be played. They are still in the Scottish Cup as well.
If a club the calibre of Tottenham Hotspur do come calling in the summer, maybe Postecoglou would think about it for sure. The only thing that Celtic fans would be hoping for is that he does not depart in the middle of a campaign and hurt his own legacy at Parkhead.
