It is a move which shows how much the player and Celtic have headed in opposite directions since the two were associated with each other. The Hoops went on to win the Premiership and League Cup double last season, have already won the first piece of silverware of this campaign and could be headed for more.

On the other hand, it looks like Leigh Griffiths cannot find a way to get his career back on track. There’s always headlines when the former Celtic star is involved. So it was no surprise to see media coverage of him signing for a lower tier team in Australia once again.

After having his contract ended early at Celtic, Griffiths signed for Falkirk. It was not a success and then he moved on a free transfer to Australian lower league side Mandurah City. It was a short yet lively spell. And now, the striker is back for more.

Griffiths is back in Australia, and has signed with Mandurah City once again in what can only be described as a confusing return. It seems like another ‘last chance’ for the Scottish striker.

Most people had been left scratching their heads, the first time Griffiths signed for Mandurah City. So in typical fashion, he has done it again. It remains to be seen how his second stint Down Under turns out.

Former Scottish journeyman player, John Baird, is the manager at the lower league side, who play in the third tier of Australian soccer. As reported by the Daily Record, the coach said about Griffiths’ move:

"“I am very pleased for everyone involved with the club. To bring Leigh back is a credit and a display of the hard work everyone behind the scenes is putting in. Leigh wanted to come back after understanding our goals for the 2023 season. Leigh’s ability on the pitch is undoubtable. His experience speaks for itself and his signing is an opportunity for him to get back to enjoying his football in a positive and competitive environment. I have had Australian internationals contacting me asking to come down and train because they want to see Leigh play.”"

Of course, we all know how things have gone for Griffiths on the pitch in recent years. Now, at 32, it remains to be seen if he can get his career back on track or not.
