Celtic have been very active in the transfer market in recent times, in terms of both incomings and outgoings. We saw them add several players to their ranks in January as well, while quite a few headed in the opposite direction too. That included the likes of Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis, who had key roles in the first-team.

Of course, that is the model by which the club can continue to refresh their squad year after year. And now, it looks like they could be set to receive a bit of a cash boost in the near future, as one of their former players could be on the move.

Kieran Tierney left Celtic in the summer of 2019 in a Scottish record move in order to join Arsenal. He has had an up and down time at the club since then.

Not too long ago, Tierney was considered one of Arsenal’s best players, and a future captain. But now, he finds himself out of the starting XI and could be set to depart soon.

As reported by The Telegraph, Newcastle United are plotting a move for Tierney, who could cost in excess of £30 million if Arsenal are willing to sanction his departure in the summer.

Celtic are believed to have a sell-on clause in the deal for Tierney. As a result, a big move could see them land a cash boost in the summer. The way these things mostly work, the former club receives a percentage of the profit that his team make out of the transfer.

It remains to be seen whether Tierney departs in the summer or not. Newcastle United could be a great place for him to go to though. Eddie Howe’s team are on the rise and already challenging for a Champions League spot.
