Ange Postecoglou is linked with a move away from Celtic almost every month these days. Every time a Premier League team shows their manager the exit door, the Australian is touted by the media as one of the first names to be his replacement. Yet, till now, he has stayed put at Parkhead and continues to enjoy success at the club.
Celtic’s double last season has been followed by a Scottish League Cup triumph this time around already. They are also leading the Premiership title race by nine points with 11 more league games to go and are still in the Scottish Cup as well, where they will take on Hearts at Tannadice Park in the quarter finals.
Thus, a potential treble is on the table, although it might be too early to start thinking about it. On the other hand, Postecoglou has expressed an interest in succeeding with Celtic in Europe as well.
Thus, while Postecoglou continues to be linked with moves away left, right and centre, fans will be hoping that he remains at the club for the foreseeable future. And as reported by Football Insider, Frank McAvennie said about the matter:
"“I think he is here for the next few years.“He is an honourable guy, he wants to do a job. He is here to take Celtic to where I want.“I think Celtic should be in the group stage every single year. Once you get to the group stage you try and at least finish in the Europa League places. That is what Celtic deserve.“If Ange does that he will be an absolute genius.”"
Celtic hero predicts when Postecoglou will leave the club
Postecoglou is in his late 50s. Thus, he does not have a lot of time to reach his managerial ambitions. Most Celtic fans accept that there is a good possibility that he will depart in the near future, most probably to the Premier League.
But if he remains at Parkhead for a few more years, that will be great for the club. Not only does Postecoglou bring success, but he sets teams up for success even after he has left. One can see that at Yokohama F. Marinos.
Let’s see what the long-term future holds for Postecoglou. For now, he is the manager of Celtic though, and a brilliant one at that too.
