Celtic have a stacked squad right now. That was not the story when Ange Postecoglou had arrived at the club. Back then, the depth was paper thin and the Australian often had to play people out of position just to make up the numbers. Thankfully, those days are behind us now. The club have relentlessly added to their ranks over the previous four transfer windows and now have impressive depth in almost every position on the pitch.

That also means that there are a number of pretty good players, who have struggled for game time, as they have not been able to get past those ahead of them in the pecking order. That is just the nature of football at a top club.

For Postecoglou, it does not look like the price tag matters either. For example, we saw Alexandro Bernabei arrive for a pretty significant figure in the summer from Lanus, becoming Celtic’s first ever Argentine player in the process. But he has barely featured since then, as Greg Taylor is in the form of his life right now.

Every player will have to earn their opportunities. And that is how it should be, as Celtic chase a potential treble.

Celtic boss sends blunt message to players struggling for chances

As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou said:

"“What do you reckon would happen to players who throw their toys out of the pram, mate?”"

It feels like the answer to that question is pretty obvious. The Celtic manager further went on to add:

"“All our players, particularly the younger ones who want to go on to further opportunities, maybe to a stronger league, do you think they are going to go to a club where they are guaranteed game time? No, so it’s no different here. We are a big club. Nothing is guaranteed. You’ve got to earn everything and these boys do that.”"

There are some players in the squad who might not be getting the number of opportunities that they would like. But it is important that they keep their heads down and continue working hard. With the amount of football that Celtic play every season, sooner or later, their chance is bound to come and when that does happen, they must be ready to take it with both hands.
