The impact that Ange Postecoglou has made since arriving at Celtic is clear for all to see. When the Australian was appointed as the manager of the club, most fans were left disappointed and it is not hard to understand why. Despite his successes in Japan and Australia, he was an unknown in European football.
Postecoglou has proven though that he is more than good enough to manage in Europe. He has already guided Celtic to three trophies and more could be on the way, if things go according to plan.
Celtic are leading the Premiership by nine points with 11 league games left to be played. On the other hand, they are still in the Scottish Cup as well, where they will take on Hearts in the quarter-finals. Thus, a potential treble is still on the table although it is too early to start thinking about it.
With the success that Postecoglou has had since arriving at Celtic and the connection that he has been able to build with the fanbase, it is no surprise that he is being linked with a move down south on a regular basis. Recently, rumours linked him with the Leeds United job. And Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Elland Road outfit had mentioned the Australian manager’s name internally.
Fabrizio confirms Postecoglou Celtic exit rumour
As reported by FootballFanCast, Romano said while speaking on the House of Champions YouTube channel:
"“The manager is fantastic, for example, he’s one of the names who was mentioned internally at Leeds, but he was not going to leave Celtic job during the season.”"
Thus, it looks like Leeds United did indeed hold some level of interest in bringing in Postecoglou. But the Australian manager did not intend to leave Celtic in the middle of the season.
That is one of the things that Celtic fans will be hoping, that Postecoglou does not leave in the middle of a campaign. That will only hurt his legacy at Parkhead and the special bond he has built up with the supporters. If he departs in the off-season, he would do so with the blessing of most.
