Celtic brought an end to their barren run at St Mirren Park, with a 5-1 victory. The home team had taken the lead from the spot early in the first half and managed to keep it that away until the break. Thus, some Hoops fans cannot be blamed for starting to get nervous, even though the opposition were down to ten men.

Ange Postecoglou’s side completely turned the game around in the second half though. Goals from Jota, Alistair Johnston, Liel Abada, Matt O’Riley and Oh Hyeon-gyu managed to seal the win and three very important points in the title race. With 11 more league games to go, the Hoops are in a commanding position to say the least.

On the day, VAR was once again in the middle of controversy, as has so often been the case this season when it comes to games Celtic are involved in.

A penalty kick went against Celtic early on in the game. And although the ball did strike the player’s arm, there was nothing that he could do about it and there was no intent behind the action. On the other hand, a penalty kick that was awarded to the Hoops was overturned into a free kick, as the offence was adjudged to have taken place outside the box.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound about the matter:

"“Look, I don’t know and VAR doesn’t miss anything by the looks of it.“Especially with us.”"

It has been quite clear for a while now that Postecoglou is not a big fan of how VAR has been implemented in Scotland. And why should he be?

More often than not, decisions seem to go against Celtic and the club deserve immense credit for still leading the title race by such a significant margin. The match against St Mirren presented a bit of a scare but they did well to get past it in the second half.
