Things can change very quickly in football and nobody will know that better than Celtic fans. When Ange Postecoglou had arrived as the manager of the club in the summer of 2021, there was very little hope and excitement amongst the fans. The Hoops had blown their chance at 10IAR in the previous campaign, losing the league title race to the Rangers by 25 points. They had not won any other piece of silverware either.
Postecoglou completely transformed the team though and even more impressively, in a very short period of time. That saw them win the Premiership and League Cup double last season. And they have already brought home the first piece of silverware this season as well.
Celtic defeated the Rangers in the final of the Scottish League Cup by a 2-1 scoreline, thanks to a brace from Kyogo Furuhashi. Thus, they retained their title.
On the other hand, things seem to be changing for Beale as well, but in the opposite direction. Just a week ago, he could do no wrong. But since losing the final, many Rangers fans have been questioning whether he is the right man for the job or not. On the other hand, they do not seem to be happy with the board either.
Rangers fans protest after losing League Cup final to Celtic
As reported by Football Scotland, the club’s ultras unfurled a banner in the recent game at Ibrox that read:
"“After fifty five titles you took your eye off the ball. Time for a change.”"
It goes without saying that losing to Celtic in the League Cup final had an effect on that. If they won that game, there would not have been any protests on this occasion.
Of course, Celtic cannot afford to even think of what is happening in and around Ibrox. They still have two trophies to compete for. Their next match is away at St Mirren, a ground where Postecoglou is yet to experience victory or even see his side score a goal. Thus, it could be tougher than expected.
