Josip Juranovic might have left Celtic for Union Berlin in January, but it is quite clear that he remains a supporter of the Hoops. He was a very popular amongst the players and the fans during his time at Parkhead, and if some of his recent comments are anything to go by, that will remain the case, even after his exit.

Celtic recently claimed their first piece of silverware of the season, winning the Scottish League Cup. They got the better of the Rangers at Hampden Park by a 2-1 scoreline, thanks to a brace from Kyogo Furuhashi.

There was a lot of hype going into the game. And some of Fashion Sakala’s pre-match comments had created quite a bit of controversy.

But the final was not really that close, with Celtic looking the better team in almost every department. As reported by Football Scotland, Juranovic said:

"“I can say it was a difficult time to go into the game at left back without preparation.“But we didn’t lose, that was the most important thing against a good team. You saw it in the cup final, even at 2-0 you can’t rest as you lose a stupid goal and it can change.“But the important thing is Celtic are nine points ahead, as Fashion Sakala might say, the other mob!”"

Juranovic takes dig at Sakala as Celtic win League Cup over the Rangers

Juranovic leaving in the middle of the campaign was seen as a major blow, with three trophies still to play for at that point of time. Celtic have done quite well even without him though.

Juranovic was a regular starter at Celtic throughout his entire time at the club, before leaving for Union Berlin. His place in the team has been taken by Alistair Johnston, who put in a superb performance in the League Cup final against the Rangers and has not let the team feel the absence of the Croatian on the pitch.

On the other hand, Juranovic is doing well at Union Berlin too and has already made his presence felt in their first-team. The Bundesliga side are putting up an unexpected title challenge this season. And we can only hope that the Croatian full-back has a successful campaign in Germany.
