Celtic have done a wonderful job when it comes to rebuilding their squad during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager. When he had arrived in the summer of 2021, the depth across the pitch was paper thin and people often had to play out of position just to make the numbers. The Hoops come a long way since then and can be considered as stacked right now.
One position that had been a worry for Celtic for a long time was left-back. Since Kieran Tierney left for Arsenal in a Scottish record £25 million move in the summer of 2019, the club had not been able to find a proper replacement for him.
Greg Taylor was signed in that same summer but for his first few seasons at Parkhead, he disappointed. He has turned things around under the management of Postecoglou though and looks like a player transformed. The club also signed their first Argentine player ever in the summer, in the form of Alexandro Bernabei.
On the other hand, things have gone south for Tierney at Arsenal lately. He has lost his place in the starting XI and now, it looks like he could be on the move. That is good news for Celtic.
£30 million Arsenal transfer update is great news for Celtic
As reported by Football Insider, Arsenal are expected to be open to offers for Tierney. The former Celtic star is valued around the £30 million mark and is firmly on Newcastle United’s radar.
Of course, there have been suggestions that Celtic have a sell-on clause in the deal for Tierney. Thus, the club could land a cash boost out of his transfer exit.
As these things often work, the club will get a percentage out of whatever profit Arsenal make out of Tierney’s transfer. That, the figure above the £25 million fee they shelled out to sign him.
