Celtic have a brilliant manager in place in Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has already won three trophies on Scottish soil and is leading the Premiership title race by nine points as well. Around him, there has been a bit of a managerial merry-go-round in Scotland though, with most struggling to remain in the hot seat for any considerable length of time.
The latest to be shown the exit door was Liam Fox. He was brought in by Dundee United some months back. But with the club at the bottom of the Premiership table, it was time for change.
Dundee United are in a relegation struggle and need someone with experience to guide them to safety. And they have gone for that in the form of a former Celtic player.
As reported by The Courier, Jim Goodwin is set to be named as Dundee United manager until the end of the season. It is understood that the Irishman has now agreed a deal to take over at Tannadice Park.
Former Celtic player is set to be named new Dundee United manager
Goodwin came through the youth ranks at Celtic and even appeared for the senior team. But he did not have much of a playing career at Parkhead, and would leave soon. He would go on to play for clubs like St Mirren, Huddersfield Town, Stockport County and a few others.
He does have quite a bit of experience managing in Scotland and has managed the likes of Alloa Athletic, St Mirren and Aberdeen. Of course, Goodwin’s spell at Pittodrie Stadium did not go well and it was not too long ago that he was shown the exit door.
But before that, he was doing a fine job at St Mirren. And it is quite possible that he might be the right man for the Dundee United job. Let’s see what Goodwin is able to do there.
