Celtic fans will be hoping that Ange Postecoglou remains at Parkhead for as long as possible. The Australian manager has brought a winning mentality back to the club, which they had lost during the disaster that was the 2020/21 campaign. The Hoops had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in that season.
As a result, most people had believed that the Rangers were now set to go on a dominant run in Scottish football while Celtic tried to rebuild and catch up. How long that would take? Nobody was sure. But surely, there were very few who expected Postecoglou to guide the team to a Premiership and League Cup double in the very next season.
Now, Postecoglou has guided the club to a Scottish League Cup for the second straight season. And it looks like the Rangers are the ones struggling to keep up at the moment.
Unsurprisingly, Postecoglou is being linked with a move away from Parkhead on a regular basis these days. And most Rangers fans would probably want to see his back as soon as possible. But it looks like the Australian is in no hurry to leave just yet.
Celtic boss makes claim which should scare Rangers fans
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Postecoglou said regarding his future:
"“I’m hoping that over the course of time as long as I’m here — and I am still here even though people have been getting me out the door and I think you’ll be surprised how long I am here — I’m consumed by trying to make this club the best it can be. And I’ll enjoy every minute of it.”"
Of course, things can change very quickly in football. If an offer came in from a club the calibre of a Liverpool, a Chelsea or of something of that magnitude, not many fans would blame Postecoglou for taking it.
But hopefully, he remains at Parkhead for the foreseeable future. He has been close to perfect during his time at the club and built up a special connection with the fans. Hopefully, that will continue for years to come. Three trophies are already in the cabinet and say it quietly, but a treble is on this season.
