Kyogo Furuhashi just thrives in the big moments and he guided Celtic to the Scottish League Cup, for the second season running. In the previous campaign, he had scored a brace against Hibernian to seal the club’s first piece of silverware under the management of Ange Postecoglou. And this time around, with the stakes raised higher against the Rangers, the Japanese forward found the back of the net twice again.

His movement in the box has earned him a lot of plaudits during his time at Celtic. And that was on full display at Hampden Park, as he showed up in the right place at the right time for both his goals on the day.

Another thing that Kyogo has been praised for is his humble nature. And he showed that once again, after the game, as he continues to focus on getting better and praised his teammates for their passes to him.

As reported by Football Scotland, Kyogo said after League Cup final:

"“I am just happy and humble that I was able to score two goals in this final and we wee able to win the cup once more. But it was because of the effort of the entire team and fans that we were able to win this cup.“I think I still have a lot of improving to do to become a better player, and contribute to the team, which is the most important thing to me.“I am very happy right now. I want to thank all my team-mates for the support.“They are always giving me good passes, always setting me up to score the goals. I am happy that I can repay them by scoring.”"

Kyogo made a superb claim after winning Celtic the Scottish League Cup

When Kyogo was signed by Celtic, there were big question marks over whether he could deal with the physicality of the Scottish league. It is safe to say that he has proven the doubters wrong and then some by now.

One could argue that he has been the best player in Scottish football for the past season-and-a-half. And he just continues to get better with every passing game.

In many ways, his journey has been similar to that of Postecoglou. There were plenty of eyebrows raised when Celtic had appointed him as the manager of the club in the summer of 2021 after their chase for Eddie Howe failed. Now, the only wish that the fans have is that he remains in the Parkhead hot seat for as long as possible.
