Celtic fans must have been delighted with how the Scottish League Cup final turned out, as they secured their first piece of silverware of the campaign, at the expense of the Rangers. Both teams had entered the game in great form, but Ange Postecoglou’s side proved themselves to be the better of the two. A Kyogo Furuhashi brace was enough to seal a deserving 2-1 win.
A number of Celtic players put on very good performances on the day. One man who did not cover himself in glory though was Liel Abada. He came on as a substitute and caught the eye for the wrong reasons.
He got himself booked for a dive on the day. And while not a major incident by any means, it certainly did not end up pleasing Chris Sutton, who was on commentary duty.
As reported by FootballFanCast, while speaking about it on the BBC phone-in radio show 606, Sutton named Abada as the winner of their weekly Simulation Game segment and said:
"“Liel Abada, I was there. Did you hear the anger within the commentary team that Liel Abada threw himself to the floor?“So the second trophy that Celtic have won today, Liel Abada, you’ve won the trophy that you don’t want to win.“You’re a talented young player. Your numbers are excellent. But just cut that out of your game, Liel. You’re better than that.”"

Abada has had an interesting time this season for sure. On one hand, he has shown enough to be constantly linked with a move down south. But on the other hand, he has been struggling for starts.
Daizen Maeda has been on a good run of form and that has seen him establishing himself in the left-wing position. He got himself an assist in the final as well, albeit from what looked like a poor attempt at a shot at goal. On the other hand, his rise has seen Jota move to the right wing.
That has seen Abada sit on the bench more often than not. He would surely be looking to get more minutes on the pitch moving forward. Let’s see how things play out for him from here on.
