Ange Postecoglou tipped for Celtic exit but on one condition
Ange Postecoglou has been close to perfect as Celtic manager. He guided the club to a double last season, against all odds and expectations. And this time around, the Hoops have already won their first piece of silverware, following a 2-1 win over the Rangers in the final of the Scottish League Cup.
It is safe to say that that was a big win for the club. Not only does it get them a trophy and keep their treble hopes alive, but it also shows that Michael Beale’s team still have quite a long way to go.
The Ibrox club were handed their first defeat, following the appointment of Beale as manager. And now, it will be interesting to see how they react to this setback. On the other hand, Celtic are leading the league title race by nine points and are in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, where they will be taking on Hearts.
Postecoglou’s future as Celtic manager has been a topic of heavy discussion. And while Frank McAvennie believes the Australian will leave Parkhead, he does not see it happening before a couple of years. As reported by Football Insider:
"“I have spoken to him a couple of times and he seems like a really nice guy, he is what he says on the tin. He has got that authority and the players will run through brick walls for him.“I think he has got a project at Celtic. I think he will be here for a couple of years. Of course he is that good he is going to move but he will not go for a couple of years.“"
Postecoglou tipped for Celtic exit but on one condition
Of course, most Celtic fans will be open to the idea of Postecoglou leaving eventually. At the end of the day, he is in his late 50s and does not have a lot of time left to achieve his managerial goals.
Most Celtic fans are hoping for him to remain in the Parkhead hot seat for as long as possible though. And their only wish regarding his eventual exit would be that he does not leave in the middle of a campaign, like Brendan Rodgers and hurt his own legacy at the club as a result.
Obviously, things can change very quickly in football and if an unputdownable offer came in, Postecoglou might decide to leave. But hopefully, we will see him managing Celtic for a few more years.
