Kyogo Furuhashi played the ultimate protagonist in Celtic’s Scottish League Cup win last season. Having picked up an injury leading up to the final against Hibernian, there were doubts whether he would be fit enough to feature. The Japanese forward returned in time to score a brilliant brace on the day to secure silverware for the Hoops. This time around, there are high expectations around him once again, as the club are ready to take on the Rangers in the big match.

Incidentally, Kyogo picked up an injury recently as well. It was not a long-term issue though and we have already seen him come off the bench in the last match.

Thus, when Celtic take to the Hampden Park pitch against the Rangers, one would expect Kyogo to be in the starting XI. And considering the form that he has been in lately, one would hope that he is able to make an impact as well.

Kyogo seems to be raring to go as well. As reported by The Herald, the Celtic star said ahead of the big showdown against the Rangers at Hampden Park:

"“I am looking forward to it.“I am excited about the game. We have prepared as a team, and I am prepared myself too. My shoulder is feeling good.“After that injury, I had a lot of positive support from my team-mates and the Celtic staff.“I was able to return to football because of them and I want to pay them all back in two days’ time.”"

Kyogo makes sensational claim before Celtic vs Rangers League Cup final

Kyogo has been on top form this season, especially after the World Cup break. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 22 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions in the ongoing campaign.

Kyogo also broke his duck against the Rangers, the last time that the two sides met. He scored a late equaliser to salvage a 2-2 draw at Ibrox earlier this year.

One can only hope that Kyogo is able to make a difference when the two teams meet at Hampden Park this time around. The Hoops cannot make the mistake of taking the Rangers lightly, as they have been on a good run since the appointment of Michael Beale.
