Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic team truly never stops. They added another piece of silverware to their cabinet, winning the Scottish League Cup, after a 2-1 win over the Rangers in the final. Just like last season, Kyogo Furuhashi got himself a brace on the big day at Hampden Park. Alfredo Morelos drew one back for Michael Beale’s side but they simply could not find another. The Hoops should have put the game to bed late on, but nobody will sweat, having won the trophy.

This is Postecoglou’s third trophy in Scottish football. Not bad for a manager who had been written off by a lot of people after just the first six league games last season. That makes his successes even more sweeter to many.

Now, most Rangers fans cannot wait to see him depart Parkhead. On the other hand, the Celtic faithful hope that he remains in the hot seat for the foreseeable future. Postecoglou joined the studio after the match and took a cheeky dig at Ally McCoist, who was also present there.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, while appearing on talkSPORT Breakfast, McCoist had joked that he would drive the Celtic manager to Elland Road when he was being linked with Leeds United earlier this month, and after the League Cup final, Postecoglou said to the Rangers legend:

"“Any chance of a lift back to Celtic Park? You were offering me a lift a while back!”"

At the end of the day, it was all in good humour. McCoist clearly saw the funny side of things and offered Postecoglou a piggy-back ride.

Celtic fans will be hoping that Postecoglou is not thinking about leaving anytime soon though. The job that the Australian has done at Parkhead is beyond most people’s expectations.

Even those who had backed him from day one could not have seen this coming. He took a side that had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers, and had lost a number of their best players, and turned them into the best team in Scotland in such a short span of time.
