Celtic have done it again. They are the Scottish League Cup winners. Kyogo Furuhashi ran it back, scoring a brace in the final, just like he had done against Hibernian last season. While Alfredo Morelos got a goal back for the Rangers, Michael Beale’s side failed to find a second, as Ange Postecoglou’s side got their hands on some more silverware.

The build up to this final had been intense to say the least. Whether it be Fashion Sakala’s comments, or Beale’s claim about Postecoglou being a ‘lucky man’ some time back.

Beale had reasons to be confident as well. The Ibrox side had not tasted defeat since his arrival. That changed at Hampden Park though, as Celtic got themselves a much deserved 2-1 win.

Some of Beale’s recent comments about Chris Sutton had caused some controversy as well. And it is safe to say that the Celtic hero did not miss his chance at the final whistle.

Sutton takes dig at Beale live on commentary the moment Celtic win League Cup

Sutton was on commentary for the Scottish League Cup final. And the moment the final whistle blew and Celtic were crowned champions, he said ‘lucky Ange’. He also tweeted out:

Postecoglou has truly done an incredible job since arriving as the manager of Celtic and he deserves a world of credit for transforming this team into winners. The campaign before he arrived, they had finished 25 points behind the Rangers and trophyless.

That’s the effect a great manager can have on a team. And Celtic fans will be hoping that he remains in the Parkhead hot seat for as long as possible.

It is time to celebrate for the Hoops. But at the same time, they will know they still have a lot left to play for. They are leading the league by nine points while the hopes of a treble are still alive and well.
