Celtic have done a great job when it comes to their recruitment under the management of Ange Postecoglou. That might very well be the biggest reason why they have been successful in turning things around so quickly. The number of players who have arrived at Parkhead in the previous four transfer windows and become household names, is truly impressive.

One of the best signings that Celtic have made recently is that that of Reo Hatate. The Japanese midfielder was brought in from Kawasaki Frontale in January of 2022.

He made a brilliant start to life at Celtic, even scoring a brace in their memorable 3-0 win over the Rangers at Parkhead last year. A few months later, it did feel like he was struggling with his fitness though and had run out of steam. This season, he has been superb once again, and looks like one of the best players in Scotland at this point of time.

Naturally, clubs from around Europe are expected to take notice. As reported by Football Insider, Alan Hutton said:

"“I think that is just part of it when you play for Rangers and Celtic.“You look at [Matt] O’Riley when he was going through a real good spell, there was talk of him possibly going.“When Hatate first came to the club I really thought he hit the ground running then he ran out of steam a little bit but you can see why. He is all action, all energy, he is everywhere, tackling, scoring, creating.“It would not surprise me if people are watching him. But I think credit has to go to Celtic and their recruitment policy.“They are finding players that a lot of us did not know much about and to come in and show what they are all about so soon is great for the club and the player. So there probably is people sniffing about.“"

It is safe to say that Hatate is a key part of Celtic’s starting XI at this point of time. Thus, a player of his importance leaving anytime soon would come as a major blow for Postecoglou’s side.

At the same time though, one has to recognise that clubs from abroad have most probably taken notice of Hatate’s performances. And sooner or later, offers will start coming in.

If that turns out to be the case then Celtic might have a tough time holding onto Hatate for much longer. At the same time though, the Hoops have shown a brilliant eye for talent over the past four transfer windows. Thus, if the Japanese midfielder was to even leave in the future, one would be confident in the ability of Postecoglou and company to replace him.
