It is safe to say that Celtic fans will not be fond of Eddie Howe. The English manager was linked with the Parkhead job for months but ultimately, the move did not end up materialising. It all worked out well for the Hoops though, as they would end up bringing in Ange Postecoglou instead and the rest is history.

At the same time, one cannot deny that Howe has done a wonderful job since becoming the Newcastle United manager. The Magpies were always expected to rise up the Premier League table after their takeover. But nobody could have expected it to happen this quickly, as they now find themselves competing in the top four.

There is some good news for Celtic amidst this as well. Newcastle United have turned their eyes towards one of their former players, signing whom could hand a cash boost to the Hoops.

As reported by Caught Offside, according to Ben Jacobs in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Newcastle United and Manchester United are both eyeing up Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong as a potential summer transfer target.

Celtic had brought in Frimpong from Manchester City when he was a teenager. He was able to establish himself as a starter for the club just a few months later though.

He would end up joining Bayer Leverkusen in January of 2021 for a transfer fee believed to be around £11.5 million. And the Hoops are rumoured to have a sell-on clause involved in the deal as well.

It is expected that it would take a transfer fee north of £30 million to sign Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, consider how good he has been in the Bundesliga as well as the fact that the Dutchman is still just 22 years of age. It could end up handing a significant cash boost to Celtic.
