Kyogo has been absolutely superb for Celtic this season. After a great debut campaign with the club, there were question marks over whether he would be able to keep performing at the same levels this time around as well. Or would the opposition teams be able to figure out the Japanese forward and make it tougher for him.
To be honest, Kyogo had some problems with his finishing for a portion of the campaign. But overall, he has been absolutely outstanding and then some. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 22 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances this season.
So, he has already scored more goals this season than the previous one, and his form has been particularly impressive after the World Cup break. Unsurprisingly, that has seen him being linked with a move away from Parkhead.
Crystal Palace are one of the clubs who have been heavily linked with Kyogo over the past few weeks. But it looks like the Japanese star’s complete focus is on Celtic at this point of time. As reported by The Herald, he said:
"“I want to be as successful as possible with this club. My focus is only on Celtic to be able to have the most possible success for the club,“As a team, we want to win as many titles as possible with Celtic. As my personal goal, I would like to score 30 goals this season, but of course, I don’t know what will happen in the future. So I just want to score as many goals as possible and contribute to the team’s victory.”"
Kyogo makes brilliant Celtic claim amid exit rumours
Kyogo’s words will be music to the ears of Celtic fans, who will surely want to see him remain at Parkhead for as long as possible. It remains to be seen what the future holds, but for the time being, it is clear that his focus is on the Hoops.
Of course, at the same time, it is important to recognise that if an incredible offer came in, then there is a possibility that the club might have to part ways with Kyogo. That is just how things are and where Scottish football is today.
But it is good to see Kyogo focused at the club. Hopefully that will remain the case till the end, whether he remains here for a few more months or several years.
