Celtic fans might have been keeping an eye out on the situation of Leeds United in recent weeks, after Ange Postecoglou was linked with the Elland Road job. Jesse Marsch might have kept them up in the Premier League last season. But after finding themselves in another relegation struggle this time around, the club showed him the exit door recently.
Postecoglou was rumoured to be one of the names that they had an eye on, to replace Marsch in the managerial hot seat. But, the Australian manager has stayed put at Parkhead for the time being.
On the other hand, Leeds United have found their new manager as well. It is none other than Javi Gracia, who has managed clubs like Osasuna, Malaga, Watford and Valencia in the past.
As reported by the club’s official website, Leeds United have agreed terms with Gracia to become men’s first team head coach. The experienced 52-year-old has agreed a flexible contract at Elland Road.
Leeds United’s announcement will interest Celtic fans
It is safe to say that Celtic fans will want to see Postecoglou remain at Parkhead for as long as possible. And thus, this is a very good update for them in that regard.
Postecoglou was being linked with the Leeds United job even very recently. The suggestion was that the Australian would make the move to Elland Road in the summer, if they manage to stay up in the Premier League.
In that regard, the ‘flexible contract’ could become interesting. And we don’t really know much more about Gracia’s deal with Leeds United at the moment.
Is it possible that Postecoglou could leave Celtic in the summer? Time shall tell. And if he does leave in the off-season, he will leave with the blessing of the fans. Whether a move to Leeds United is still on the cards or not, it remains to be seen.
