Celtic got themselves a 4-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend to continue their march towards a second straight Premiership title. With just 12 more league games left to be played this season, Ange Postecoglou’s side have a commanding nine point lead at the top of the table. But all eyes will move towards the Scottish League Cup final for now though.
Celtic are set to take on the Rangers at Hampden Park at the upcoming weekend. It goes without saying that this is a match with huge stakes.
One Celtic player has been criticised for his performance in the previous match against Aberdeen though. And one can only hope that he does not make the same mistakes in the Scottish League Cup final, because the Rangers might be able to take advantage.
As reported by Football Scotland, Willie Miller said during an assessment live on BBC Sportsound:
"“There weren’t any opportunities (for Aberdeen) other than possibly Joe Hart being their best and most dangerous player with some of his clearances at times, really switching off and not concentrating properly.“He gave Jonny Hayes two opportunities actually to find the back of the net but that would not have made any difference at all.”"
Celtic player slammed for his performance vs Aberdeen
Hart did gift a couple of opportunities to Aberdeen on the day. But fortunately for the Hoops, the home side could not take advantage of them.
At the same time though, it would be a mistake on the part of Celtic to sweep it under the carpet. Michael Beale’s side are in much better form and could prove to be clinical if provided with the same chances in front of goal.
Hart has done a great job since arriving at Parkhead in the summer of 2021, both as a player and as a leader. But there is no question that there are big doubts when it comes to his ability to play with the ball at his feet. That is certainly the weakness in his game.
One can only hope that he does not make the same mistakes when Celtic take to the Hampden Park pitch next weekend.
