Celtic hero makes Kyogo Furuhashi to Premier League claim
Celtic have discovered a number of stars during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager. And the name that perhaps tops that list is that of Kyogo Furuhashi. In many ways, the Japanese striker gave the first glimpse of the change that the club was set to undergo under the management of the Australian.
When the signing was made, many had questioned whether Kyogo would be able to compete with the physicality of the Scottish league. He has done so and then some.
Kyogo’s movement is out of the world and while he can go through rough patches at times, overall, he has been unstoppable since putting on a Celtic shirt. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 22 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances this season.
Unsurprisingly, Kyogo has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent times. With the form that he is in, one almost expects clubs from down south to come calling in the summer. But as reported by Football Insider, Frank McAvennie said about the situation:
"“I don’t think so.“I think everyone in that Celtic team is capable of moving to the Premier League. But it’s the same as Postecoglou, I can’t see it happening yet.“You can never say never in football.“Kyogo won’t be here forever, but I think he’s still got unfinished business.“It’s a good sign when the manager and his players are being targeted. You want that because it means they’re doing well.“This Celtic team are all having fun and they’re so together at the moment.“I’m sure his pace would frighten people in the Premier League. But I’m not sure he has the strength to play in England.”"
Celtic hero makes Kyogo to Premier League claim
It is safe to say that Celtic fans will be hoping that Kyogo remains at Parkhead as long as possible. Not only is he a fantastic player, but seems to be a popular member of the squad as well.
With the way that he is going, if he stays long enough at the club, he can establish himself as a Celtic legend. But at the same time, it is rare for players who are doing well at Parkhead, to stay long at the club.
That’s just the way it is and the financial difference between the Premiership and the top five European leagues is so vast that it has become almost impossible for clubs like Celtic to hold onto their best players.
