Celtic have been nearly flawless in the league this season till now. Other than a draw and a defeat, they have won every other game. And they continued their march towards the title with a 4-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend at Parkhead, to maintain their nine point lead over the Rangers, with 12 more Premiership games left to be played in the ongoing campaign.
Reo Hatate, who has been superb this season, scored a couple of goals against Aberdeen. On the other hand, Callum McGregor and Liel Abada got their names on the scoresheet as well.
It was another solid performance from Ange Postecoglou’s side, who seem to be hitting top form just at the right time. And they certainly appeared to impress Aberdeen’s players at the weekend.
As reported by Aberdeen’s official website, captain Graeme Shinnie told the press after the game at Celtic Park:
"“Celtic are on another level to the other teams in the division at the moment, especially at home. They play a different style to what I’ve seen them play in the past, they have the inverted full-backs, they look for overloads in different areas of the pitch and they are impressive.”"
Aberdeen captain makes sensational claim about Celtic
It is safe to say that Celtic have been impressive this season till now. But now, it is about getting the job done and getting past the finish line.
The Hoops have set themselves up for a great season. They have a commanding lead in the league. They are in the Scottish League Cup final, where they will take on the Rangers this weekend at Hampden Park. And they are still in the Scottish Cup as well.
Thus, there is a possibility that Celtic could improve upon last season, when they won the double, this time around. But for that to happen, they will need to finish this campaign strong. There is very little scope for error moving forward and every game must be treated as a bit of a knockout tie. A treble is still on the cards. Let’s hope that the Bhoys can get the job done.
