Celtic have relentlessly added to their squad over the course of the past four transfer windows. As a result, a squad that looked paper thin in 2021, is now stacked across most positions. As a result, there are a number of good players at Parkhead, who have struggled for regular playing time and might be considering leaving on a temporary basis.
One of the areas where Celtic are pretty stacked is goalkeeper. Joe Hart has been the number one since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021. On the other hand, they have the likes of Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist as cover.
The club also have youngsters like Tobi Oluwayemi and Josh Clarke, who could potentially make an impact in the future. As a result, someone like Conor Hazard has gotten lost in the shuffle.
Most people expect Hazard to leave the club on a permanent basis in the future. But Alan Hutton feels that a loan move might be perfect for him. As reported by Football Insider, he said:
"“I think if you look at the age of Siegrist, he obviously knows the league with Dundee United and he is a steady goalkeeper who can come in and handle it.“Hart is your number one. So the likes of Hazard is going to be thinking he is going to be limited with game time.“I think he will look to go out on loan.“I think he will still believe in himself that he will have that opportunity to even push for number two. I think a loan option is perfect for him.“"
Celtic player told to leave Parkhead on a loan deal
Hazard had actually managed to break into the first-team scene for a while in the 2020/21 campaign and was the hero in the final of the Scottish Cup. And he looked pretty steady in the chances that he got that season, better than Vasilis Barkas or Bain.
But interestingly, he was not given enough chances to establish himself in the senior team. And we have not seen much of him in the past two years or so.
He spent a year out on loan at HJK Helsinki and did a great job for the Finnish club. But that has not translated into minutes on the pitch for Celtic. Thus, him leaving on another loan spell might not be a bad idea at all.
