Celtic have done a wonderful job when it comes to identifying talent who will fit into Ange Postecoglou’s system of football. That is one of the biggest reasons why the club have been so successful during the time of the Australian manager at Parkhead and turned things around so quickly after that 2020/21 campaign.
Not only have the club added to the senior team, but they have also brought in players who are expected to develop further and make an impact in the future. One example in this regard is Johnny Kenny.
Another youngster that Celtic had tried to sign in the past but failed to do so is Dylan Reid. Rumours had suggested that the Hoops had even agreed a transfer fee with St Mirren, but the player decided to stay put.
Reid has finally made a move though, but it sees him make a move down south rather than to Glasgow. The Scottish youngster has joined Crystal Palace.
Celtic target completes transfer move to Crystal Palace
As reported by Crystal Palace’s official website, Reid has signed a three-and-a-half year deal in south London and will be a part of their Academy setup.
Reid is still just 17 years of age and will turn 18 next month. He has made quite a few senior appearances for St Mirren already though and it will be interesting to see if he can make the jump to the senior level at Crystal Palace as well.
There is no doubt that Reid is a very highly rated talent, who has a lot of potential. Thus, him ending up at Crystal Palace is a bit of a blow for Celtic for sure. But it is time to move their eyes elsewhere. At the same time, the club already have some top talents coming through their own youth ranks like Bosun Lawal, Rocco Vata and Joey Dawson.
