Celtic managed to continue their march towards the Premiership title with a 4-0 win away against Aberdeen. The result means that the Hoops are now nine points clear at the top of the table, with 12 more league games left to be played. On the day, Reo Hatate scored a brace while Callum McGregor and Liel Abada got a goal each.

One major worry from the day was the fact that Aaron Mooy was not named even in the matchday squad. That could be a problem, especially just a week away from the Scottish League Cup final against the Rangers.

The signing of Mooy might have raised a lot of eyebrows at the time. But there is no questioning that he has been one of Celtic’s most important and best players in recent times. Thus, fans will be hoping that the issue is nothing serious.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, speaking ahead of the match against Aberdeen, Postecoglou said about the situation of Mooy:

"“Aaron pulled up a bit sore yesterday so with those two [Reo Hatate and Matt O’Reilly] really fresh to be honest it made sense for us to bring them in.”"

Celtic suffer Mooy worry before League Cup final vs Rangers

It is safe to say that Celtic are a better team with Mooy than without him. So, fans will be hoping that he recovers in time in order to feature in the League Cup final against the Rangers.

In many ways, that just goes on to show how far Mooy has come since arriving at Parkhead. Early on in the season, not many fans would have been worried, if they were told that the Australian midfielder could potentially miss the League Cup final. That’s how quickly things can change in football.

But even if Celtic were without Mooy at Hampden Park, Postecoglou would have a great squad of players to pick his starting XI from. On the other hand, the Rangers have been in good form lately as well, so the Hoops will need to bring their A-game next weekend.
