Aberdeen have a tough task awaiting them as they travel to Parkhead in order to take on Celtic. Ange Postecoglou’s side have been in great form after the World Cup break. While at some points in the campaign it had looked like they were squeezing out results, at the moment, they are finding the back of the net consistently. The Hoops cannot make the mistake of taking the Dons lightly though.

Aberdeen have been in terrible form lately, which saw Jim Goodwin being shown the exit door. They did get a 3-1 win over Motherwell in the previous match, with Barry Robson in interim charge of the team for the time being.

They will be without two of their key players for the upcoming match at Parkhead though in the form of Liam Scales, who is currently on loan from Celtic, and Ross McCrorie, who is suspended.

As reported by Aberdeen’s official website, Robson said to the media ahead of the game against Celtic:

"“Yes, Celtic is a huge club, but so is Aberdeen. We want to go down there and show the fans that we’re fighting and we want to try and put in as good a performance as we possibly can. We are missing Ross and Liam who are our two centre backs with speed, which is a miss but we’ve got some other good players who can come in and take their place. Apart from that we are sitting okay.”"

It is safe to say that missing two key centre-backs in a match against Celtic could turn out to be a problem for Aberdeen. Especially with the amount of goals that the Hoops have been scoring lately.

At the same time though, Celtic must make sure that they are at the top of their game when they face Aberdeen. It is often games like this which can prove slippery for teams in form.

They still have 13 matches to go in the Premiership and a league title to defend. As things stand, Postecoglou’s side are nine points ahead of the Rangers in second.

Celtic have a Scottish League Cup final against the Rangers coming up a week later. But the full focus has to be on Aberdeen for the time being.
