Celtic are leading the Premiership table by nine points, with 13 more games to go. And Ange Postecoglou’s side will look to continue their march towards the league title, when they welcome Aberdeen to Parkhead this weekend. The Dons are in an interesting position right now, having shown Jim Goodwin the exit door recently.

Aberdeen were on a terrible run of form before that, losing 5-0 against Hearts, 6-0 vs Hibernian and also getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup at the hands of sixth-tier side Darvel. Thus, it is not hard to see why the Dons decided to part ways with Goodwin.

Since then, Barry Robson has been the interim manager of Aberdeen. And they got themselves a win against Motherwell in their last match. Thus, Celtic cannot afford to take the Dons lightly when they come visiting Parkhead.

While several managers have been linked with the vacant Aberdeen hot seat, it looks like Robson will continue leading the first-team for the time being while the club look for a long-term solution. As reported by the club’s official website, Chairman Dave Cormack said:

"“Aberdeen FC’s recruitment for a new manager is progressing with potential candidates being considered against the detailed criteria and philosophy the Club has set out.“There has been a high level of interest as well as some unfounded speculation. It is vital that we carry out the necessary diligence in drawing up a short-list before embarking on any serious talks or interviews.“Alan Burrows, who starts as chief executive on 27th February, will be involved in the next steps. It’s important that we take our time and be patient.“In the meantime, Barry Robson, supported by Steve Agnew and Scott Anderson, will continue to lead the first team and they are wholly focused on preparations for Saturday’s match.”"

Celtic have been on a great run of form, especially in the league this season. They have lost once and drawn once, winning 23 times over the first 25 league games.

So, the Hoops must be confident of their chances, going into the match against Aberdeen. But at the same time, they cannot take them lightly. It is these kind of games which prove slippery tasks a lot of the times.

Postecoglou will know that though. The Australian manager has done a wonderful job of making sure that this team remains focussed at the task at hand throughout the campaign. Now, we are in the business end of the season. And hopefully, the Hoops will finish strong.
