Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, was heavily linked with the Leeds United job, immediately after they showed Jesse Marsch the exit door. The American had guided them to safety last season but the Premier League club find themselves in a relegation struggle once again. As a result, they decided to make a change in the Elland Road hot seat.
Postecoglou has enhanced his reputation since becoming the manager of Celtic in the summer of 2021. When the appointment was made, many had questioned the decision to bring in someone who had no experience of managing a top flight club in Europe.
These days, every time a Premier League job becomes available, Postecoglou is one of the first names to be linked with it. That’s how much things have changed for the Australian manager over the course of the past 18 months or so.
Since the initial links with Leeds United, there have been no suggestions though, that Postecoglou is looking to take the Elland Road job. And now, the Premier League club have made an announcement on their official website, as it reads:
"Leeds United can confirm Michael Skubala will continue to lead the men’s first team for the club’s upcoming fixtures.Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas will carry on supporting Michael, alongside the backroom team already in place.Skubala, Gallardo and Armas have overseen two positive performances over the last week against Manchester United and will lead training ahead of this weekend’s Premier League game against Everton at Goodison Park."
Leeds United announcement will interest Celtic fans
Skubala is the caretaker manager for Leeds United right now. The club have put in a couple of positive performances with him in charge.
They managed a 2-2 draw against Manchester United and then lost to the Red Devils by a 2-0 scoreline in the following game. Erik ten Hag’s side are in top form right now though, and it appears that this could be a step in the right direction for Leeds United in terms of performances.
On the other hand, for Celtic fans, it means that Postecoglou is staying put at Parkhead for the time being. Although, considering some of his recent comments and how dedicated he has sounded, it might be time to put the exit rumours behind us for a good while.
