Celtic are in some terrific form right now. They sit nine points ahead of the Rangers in the Premiership, are in the League Cup final where they will be taking on Michael Beale’s side and also marched into the next round of the Scottish Cup following a 5-1 win over St Mirren. They were handed a worry on the day as well though.
Kyogo Furuhashi, who has been in sublime form after the World Cup break, got injured inside the first 15 minutes and had to be substituted off as a result. With Giorgos Giakoumakis having left the club recently, that does give Ange Postecoglou something to think about going forward.
The club have signed Oh Hyeon-gyu, but he had not played competitive football for a few months, before his arrival at Celtic. Till now, he has only made appearances off the bench for the Hoops.
Thus, many have questioned whether it is too early to give Oh a start. In the eyes of the South Korean striker, he is ready though and he has stated that clearly. As reported by Glasgow Times, he said:
"“I am ready to start the next match.“I hope that Kyogo isn’t seriously injured because he is a very good team mate. It is also the decision of the manager. He will decide what is best for me and for the team. But I am ready.”"
Celtic star sends clear message to Postecoglou and says he is ready to start
It is always good to see a player who is eager to make an impact. Now it remains to be seen if Oh is given the start against Aberdeen in the upcoming match or not.
He has looked impressive in the minutes that he has played for Celtic till now and even scored vs St Mirren. The strike showcased his instincts in the box, as he reacted quickest to tuck the ball into the back of the net.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Oh has made 4 appearances, played 61 minutes of football and scored once for Celtic till now. Let’s see if he gets his first start next.
