Celtic find themselves in a great position on the pitch right now. They are leading the Premiership title race by nine points. On the other hand, they are also in the final of the Scottish League Cup, where they will come up against Michael Beale’s Rangers. The biggest worry for the fans right now though, is the long-term future of Ange Postecoglou at Parkhead.

The Australian manager has been absolutely brilliant during his time at Celtic. He has overdelivered on every expectation and is well on his way to becoming a club legend. The worry is, clubs down south seem to have taken notice of his superb work over the past 18 months as well.

Postecoglou has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent times. Earlier on in the campaign, clubs like Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolves were rumoured to hold an interest in the Australian manager, and more recently, there have been links to Leeds United.

Until now, Postecoglou has stayed put at Parkhead. But sooner or later, an offer might come in, that he might find too good to turn down. Chris Sutton sent a message to the Celtic chiefs in his column in the Daily Record, as he wrote:

"Ange Postecoglou is going to leave Celtic at some point. That’s obvious.I just don’t feel it’ll be happening that soon. Nonetheless, Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson and the hierarchy need to start succession planning right now and keeping tabs on potential new managers because the interest is growing in their Aussie and it is not going away. If Postecoglou keeps building up Celtic at his current rate, an offer may easily arrive that the manager feels is hugely tempting. There could be offers this summer."

If Celtic continue to enjoy success on the pitch, then it is natural that more offers will be coming Postecoglou’s way. And it almost feels inevitable that sooner or later, he will make a move to the Premier League.

The thing is, Postecoglou is in his late 50s. Thus, he does not have a lot of time to make these big moves. It was only 18 months ago that he was given the chance to manage in Europe at the top level for the first time.

Celtic will be hoping that Postecoglou continues at Parkhead for as long as possible. But at the same time, they must have a succession plan.
