Celtic have been very smart when it comes to their signings in recent times. That has been one of the biggest reasons why they have been so successful under the management of Ange Postecoglou, as the Australian boss has shown a brilliant eye for picking out players who would suit his system of football.

One area where things did not work out this season are the loan deals. Both Moritz Jenz and Oliver Abildgaard left in January, halfway through their spells. In contrast, it had been a major success last season, when Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers had been brought in on a temporary basis. They did so well that they were eventually signed permanently.

Celtic must keep their eyes open for future prospects that they can sign on loan, and one player who would make a great addition is Chelsea’s Lewis Hall.

Hall has played a bit of first-team football this season. But it is quite clear that he is nowhere near a starter when everybody is fit and available. Thus, his development would be helped by a spell out on loan. And a move to Celtic Park might make sense for all parties involved.

Why a loan move for the Chelsea player would make sense for Celtic

Hall’s potential is brilliant and a lot of Chelsea fans were blown away by some of his performances, especially the one against Manchester City earlier on in the season, when he was arguably the best player on the pitch.

Understandably though, at 18 years of age, he is not the most polished and there are some areas of his game which could do with some work. But when it comes to raw talent, he has it all.

Hall is very versatile as well and can play in several positions. Thus, if he is available on loan, Celtic should certainly consider making an attempt to sign him. He could have a similar impact to what Patrick Roberts had had, coming in on loan from Manchester City.
