Ange Postecoglou has done a great job since becoming the Celtic manager and that has seen him being linked with several clubs down south already. The latest in that list is Leeds United, who recently showed Jesse Marsch the exit door and are now searching for the man to replace him in the dugout.
There have been rumours that Postecoglou is one of the managers that they have their eyes on but almost every Celtic fan knew that speculation was going to be there, the moment Leeds United announced Marsch’s departure.
Now, it remains to be seen if they do actually try to appoint Postecoglou or not, who seems to be getting close to guiding Celtic to a second straight Premiership title and the Hoops are in the Scottish League Cup final as well, another trophy that they would like to retain.
The general feeling is that Postecoglou will stay on at Celtic Park for the time being. But you never know in football and Leeds United are being urged to bring in the Australian.
Leeds United urged to bring in Celtic manager by club hero
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Paul Robinson said:
"“I think it would be a very difficult time to get Postecoglou obviously, as it’s looking like they’re going to win the league again and another trophy for him up there.“But I think of his man-management skills and the way he’s adapted himself to the Scottish Premier League and the trophies he’s won.“He’s got Harry Kewell as his assistant up there, so there is a link already.“I think it’s only going to be a matter of time before he does come to the Premier League and I’d love to see Leeds push the boat out and go and get him now.”"
It will be interesting to see if Leeds United do actually make a move for Postecoglou or not. The bookmakers have placed him as one of the leading candidates to get the Elland Road job but then, that was expected.
Would Postecoglou consider leaving Celtic in the middle of the season to go and get in a relegation struggle in the Premier League though?
Of course, Leeds United are a big club but it just does not seem like the best move for Postecoglou. They have struggled for a few years now, and this will be their third manager in the space of 12 months.
Postecoglou has stability at Celtic Park and if he does want to test himself in the Premier League, there are expected to be opportunities in the future as well.
