Celtic fans will be used to seeing Ange Postecoglou being linked with Premier League clubs by now. It has happened multiple times this season already, and most will remember the rumours involving Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton. Now, it looks like Leeds United have emerged as a potential destination for the Australian manager.

For a long time, it had looked like Postecoglou was never going to get his chance in Europe. That changed in the summer of 2021, when Celtic appointed him almost out of the blue, after their attempts to bring in Eddie Howe failed to materialise.

The decision was met with a lot of raised eyebrows back then but over time has proven to be a masterstroke. Postecoglou guided Celtic to a Premiership and Scottish League Cup double last season and has them sitting in a great position this time around as well.

Thus, it goes without saying that most Celtic fans will want to see him remain at Parkhead for as long as possible and the Leeds United rumours would be a worry for them. But as reported by Football Scotland, Simon Jordan told talkSPORT:

"“He’d be someone that I’d want to talk to although I’m not sure this would be the right time for Ange Postecoglou.“The tragedy for Scottish football is that managers see Rangers and Celtic as a stepping stone. As soon as grown up clubs from the English Premier League come calling, they want to make the jump, like Steven Gerrard did.“I think Postecoglou is a bit different though. He doesn’t have the same relationship with the Premier League. He’ll have got the memo about it being the best league in the world, but he seems to have a backbone and integrity.”"

One would hope that Postecoglou decides to remain at Celtic Park, even if Leeds United come knocking at the door.

Bookmakers have placed him as one of the favourites to land the Elland Road job, but that was almost expected at this point of time. He has been placed in the race for every Premier League job this season, whenever a manager has been shown the exit door.

Of course, you should never say never in football and anything can happen. But it does not feel like Postecoglou would want to leave the chance at winning trophies and European football at Celtic, to get into a real relegation struggle at Leeds United in the middle of the season.
