Celtic continued their march towards a second straight Scottish Premiership title with a 4-1 win away at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone. It was a tricky game in difficult conditions for sure but the Hoops got the job done, as they so often have. Kyogo Furuhashi, Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull got on the scoresheet, while the home team also scored an own goal.

The result means that Celtic have regained their nine point lead at the top of the table, and with just 13 more league games to go, they are slowly but surely inching towards their goal of retaining the title.

Also, it looks like the future of Giorgos Giakoumakis is close to being settled as well. Recent rumours have suggested that the Greek striker is set to undergo medicals soon, before completing a move to Atlanta United.

Ange Postecoglou’s comments appeared to hint at the same and it looks like an announcement could be coming soon. As reported by Football Scotland, the Celtic manager told BBC Sportsound:

"“No, that’s what I meant by it’s off my radar. I’m led to believe there should be an announcement forthcoming so I know everyone else is hanging on for it, but as I said the other day it’s off my desk.”"

Giakoumakis leaving in the middle of the season is far from ideal for Celtic. Nobody can deny the impact that he had in the previous league triumph.

In the second half of the campaign, when Kyogo was out injured, it was the Greek striker who had taken up the goalscoring burden upon his shoulders and delivered the goods when it mattered the most.

He deserves huge credit for that. But at the same time, it looks like he is on his way out of Celtic for good and an official announcement is not far away.

Celtic brought in Oh Hyeon-gyu in the January transfer window from Suwon Samsung Bluewings and one can only hope that the South Korean striker will be able to fill the boots of Giakoumakis and make his own mark.
