This was expected to be a title race between Celtic and the Rangers, but till now, the challengers have not been able to come close to the defending champions. Ange Postecoglou’s team are leading by a nine point margin with 15 more league games left to be played. One of the biggest reasons behind that is the fact that a number of key players for the Ibrox side have been out of form.

Alfredo Morelos certainly falls under that category. For years, the Colombian has been linked with a big move away from Ibrox and yet, it has never materialised. And his form has been on a downward trajectory.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Morelos has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 appearances this season across all competitions.

Another thing that has come under criticism is Morelos’ fitness. And as reported by Football Insider, Frank McAvennie said about the Rangers striker:

"“The only reason he is getting a game is because Roofe and Colak are injured.“You can see that he is not fit. You look at him and think that he is not fit. Certainly not fit enough for top flight football.”"

It is safe to say that at one point of time, Morelos was one of the best strikers in Scottish football. But his career has fizzled away a bit in recent years, as a big move abroad has never materialised.

Of course, Morelos’ form or fitness will be the last thing on the minds of the Celtic players or coaching staff, as they look to win a second straight league title.

After exceeding all expectations last time around, it is safe to say that the pressure is on Postecoglou’s side to deliver. And they have done a very good job of that till now. Hopefully, they will be able to get over the finish line.

Leading by nine points, it would take a bit of a collapse from Celtic for this title race to go down to the wire. But never say never in football. So, the complete focus has to be on racking up the wins.
