Celtic got themselves a 3-0 win over Livingston at Parkhead, to continue their march towards a second straight Premiership title. The goals came from Greg Taylor, Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi. With 14 more league games left to be played this season, the Hoops are leading the Rangers by nine points.
Admittedly, the Rangers have been on a decent run as well, ever since Michael Beale has been appointed as their manager. But they have failed to cut into Celtic’s lead at the top of the table.
The two sides are set to meet in the Scottish League Cup final as well. Thus, the upcoming Glasgow Derbies are going to be even more important.
Some of Beale’s recent comments did cause some controversy, as the manager had ended up labelling Ange Postecoglou as a ‘lucky man’, when talking about the signings that Celtic have made. As reported by the Daily Record, the Rangers boss had said:
"“We don’t spend the most money in this country. Celtic have made three signings and people are asking: ‘Are you going to make three’? No, we will do what we think (is best). But also, they spend a lot more money than us. So Ange is a lucky man because he’s spent a lot of money.”"
Celtic Park DJ makes fun of Michael Beale’s comment
That ‘lucky man’ comment certainly did not go down well with Celtic fans, and unsurprisingly so, considering the circumstances in which Postecoglou had arrived at the club. It was the furthest thing from lucky.
The Celtic Park DJ appeared to poke a bit of fun at Beale’s comment as well, as “Lucky Man” by The Verve, a song released in 1997, was played at half-time in the game against Livingston. Subtle, yet absolutely brilliant.
Of course, coming back to the matter of Postecoglou. It was pretty clear that Celtic had wanted to bring in Eddie Howe in the summer of 2021, before that move failed to materialise and they went after the Australian instead.
Nobody could have expected the kind of turnaround that he would bring at the club and in such a short span of time as well, taking a team that had finished 25 points behind the Rangers and trophyless to a Premiership and League Cup double.
