Celtic have been linked with a long list of players in recent times and for the most part, they have done a decent job when it comes to getting deals over the line for them. Of course, there are always some misses and one such player appears to be headed to the Premier League to join Crystal Palace.

While Celtic have continued to strengthen the senior team over the four transfer windows under the management of Ange Postecoglou, they have had their eyes on highly-rated youngsters as well.

Last summer, they seemed to make their move to sign one of them, in the form of St Mirren’s Dylan Reid. Rumours had suggested that they had managed to agree a transfer fee as well, but ultimately, the youngster decided to remain with the Buddies instead.

But now, as reported by Football Insider, Crystal Palace have agreed to sign Reid and they are putting the finishing touches on the deal.

Reid is just 17 years of age and he is one of the highest rated talents coming through Scottish football right now. Celtic are not the only side who were interested in him other than Crystal Palace.

Rumours have suggested that the likes of Bayern Munich and Benfica have kept an eye on the St Mirren talent as well, but he is ready to make the move to Crystal Palace now.

The London club have proven to be a good place for youngsters to develop in recent years and thus, it might not be a bad choice for him at all. They finished a respectable 12th in the Premier League last season and currently sit on the same position.

Of course, it is a blow for Celtic to miss out on him, but it is what it is, and the club will be focusing on the future.
