It looks like quite a few players are on their way out of Celtic Park this January. More than most people would have expected. We have already seen Josip Juranovic complete a move to Union Berlin. Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to leave as well, with several clubs rumoured to hold an interest in the striker. And those two might not be the only ones either.
The club have continued to strengthen their squad this month as well and that has seen several players slip further down the pecking order.
One such player is Moritz Jenz, who played his last game of football for Celtic back in November. The German centre-back is currently on loan at the club from French Ligue 1 side, Lorient, and it looks like that spell is set to be cut short early and he is headed to the Bundesliga instead.
As reported by GianlucaDiMarzio.com, Jenz is close to arriving on loan with an option to buy at Schalke.
Celtic player is set to leave and join Bundesliga giants Schalke instead
When Jenz arrived at Celtic on a season-long loan, it was seen as a good signing. The club had been linked with him in the past as well, before he ended up joining Lorient.
And the German defender did earn a lot of plaudits with his early performances, with his composure at the back and even got his name on the score sheet on a couple of occasions.
But since then, he has struggled for playing time, with Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers winning back their places in the starting XI.
Add that to the fact that the club have signed Yuki Kobayashi as well, and it is understandable why Jenz might not be happy with his situation at Parkhead and looking to cut his loan deal short.
Schalke are traditionally one of the biggest clubs in Germany but they have been in the middle of some tough times lately, and sit at the bottom of the Bundesliga table.
