Celtic’s transfer record since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager has been superb and their recruitment deserves to be applauded. Over the past 18 months or so, they have signed players like Kyogo, Jota, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers and several others, who have come in and become household names in Glasgow.

Of course, there are always going to be some signings which are not going to work out. And that has unsurprisingly been the case with Celtic as well.

There have been some players who have come in but failed to make an impact in Postecoglou’s side. And it is about time to let a few of them go. Yosuke Ideguchi appears to fall under that category.

He was signed from Gamba Osaka and the move was always seen as a bit of a risk. Well, it is safe to say that it has not paid off. And as reported by CeltsAreHere, sources have said that Ideguchi is likely to leave the club during this January window.

Celtic are still working on midfielder’s exit this month

It is safe to say that it does not feel like Ideguchi has much of a future at Celtic. The Japanese midfielder has not played a single minute of football for the club this season.

Following the arrival of Tomoki Iwata, he is expected to have slipped down the pecking order further.

Ideguchi’s signing was made based on what he could do rather than what he had been producing in the recent past. His 2021 campaign with Gamba Osaka had not been exceptional. But while coming through the ranks, Ideguchi had been one of the most highly-rated talents in Japanese football.

It is safe to say that his spell at Celtic has not worked out and it might be best for all parties involved to part ways.
