Scottish football has been a bit of a managerial merry-go-round over the past few years. And the revolving door could be set to continue, with Jim Goodwin’s future at Aberdeen looking very shaky as things stand. The Dons had been up and down in the first half of the season, but their form has fallen completely off after the World Cup break. Could a Celtic legend sit in the Pittodrie hot seat soon?

Aberdeen have lost seven, drawn one and won one of their nine games, following the return of club football in December. It is safe to say that that is not good enough. The last two results have been of particular interest as well.

Aberdeen lost 5-0 at the hands of Hearts in the Premiership before being knocked out from the Scottish Cup by sixth-tier Darvel.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that there are serious question marks over the future of Goodwin at the club, and he could very possibly be shown the exit door in the near future. If that was to happen, a Celtic legend appears to be the favourite to replace him.

Celtic legend favourite to be next Aberdeen manager if Goodwin is shown exit door

Rumours suggest that Paul Lambert is the early favourite to be the next Aberdeen manager, in case Goodwin is shown the exit door by the Dons. Neil Lennon seems to be very much in the mix as well alongside names like Jack Ross and David Martindale.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Aberdeen and Goodwin. Do not be surprised if you see Lambert managing the club in the near future.

On the other hand, Celtic fans must be glad with the job that Ange Postecoglou has done since arriving as the manager of the Hoops and he has been nearly flawless.
