Once again while we all wait for news of a new signing for Celtic, the focus switches back towards the exit door, as another player looks set to be on his way out of Parkhead. It’s always difficult with a strong squad to keep everyone happy with game time. And as players continue to arrive at Parkhead, others find themselves slipping lower down the pecking order.

That’s seemingly the case with Moritz Jenz as well, who appears very likely to be cutting short his season-long loan spell with the Hoops. The German centre-back joined in the summer on a temporary basis from French Ligue 1 side FC Lorient.

There was an option for the Hoops to convert the loan to a permanent deal, but that doesn’t look likely to happen.

As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Jenz is set to quit his Celtic spell. The German defender is about to cut his Parkhead stay short.

Another player is inching towards leaving Celtic this month

The first half of the season saw Jenz appear more often for the Hoops than most people expected when he signed in the summer.

Injuries to Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers left a gap in the centre-back position which Jenz covered pretty well. He scored a couple of goals in early league games too.

But the later part of the season saw his impact fade away. He hasn’t played since November 12 against Ross County. And things are not expected to get any better for him.

The club have brought in Yuki Kobayashi recently and the Japanese centre-back already seems to be ahead of Jenz in the pecking order. New signing, Tomoki Iwata, is capable of playing in the position as well.

As a result, an exit might very well be the best step forward for both Jenz and Celtic.
