Celtic are in need of bringing in a striker this month. Kyogo Furuhashi is in the form of his life right now, and almost scoring for fun. But on the other hand, Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to leave soon, with clubs like Urawa Red Diamonds and Atlanta United rumoured to be interested in him. That would leave the Hoops short of options up top.

Kyogo is without doubt the starter up front, but there would be no real cover for him, if or when Giakoumakis left. Daizen Maeda can play there but he has never looked at his best when playing through the middle for Celtic. Also, with how well he has been playing lately, it would not be ideal to tinker with his position.

One striker that Celtic have been heavily linked with in recent times is Kevin Nisbet, who has been spectacular since his return from a long-term injury. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided an assist in 6 Premiership appearances this season till now.

But as reported by Football Insider, Frank McAvennie has suggested Nisbet would snub Celtic for a move down south, as he said:

"“It would be good to keep him in Scotland but I do not know if it is going to happen.“He has been injured a few times and has come back. Hibs are a different team when he plays for them.“I like him, I think he is a wonderful talent. Is he what Celtic need? I do not know, I think they might need something different.“If he signed for Celtic I would be delighted because you have got to give him a chance. It really depends on what kind of money Hibs would want.“They would need to check his injury history and make sure everything is ok because apart from that he is a talent and can score goals.“I would not be too upset if he signed but I think if he is going to go anywhere he will go down south.“"

If Nisbet can continue to perform at this level for the rest of the season then it would not be a surprise to see clubs from down south come calling.

On the other hand, Celtic do seem to have other plans to fill the gap up top as well and seem to be on the verge of signing Oh Hyeon-gyu from Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

Oh is just 21 years of age and has shown plenty of potential while rising through the ranks in the K League. He might not be the complete player yet but he certainly has a lot of talent, and is the profile of player Celtic need with Giakoumakis most probably on his way out.
