One of the biggest reasons Celtic have been so successful under the management of Ange Postecoglou is the success of their transfer signings over the past 18 months or so. Several players have come in and made an impact for the club, becoming household names along the way. Thus, recruitment has emerged as one of the strongest aspects of the Hoops in recent times.

The case was very different not too long ago though, when there were huge question marks surrounding their signings.

The summer of 2020 was a particular case in point, when nothing seemed to work out. One of the big signings from that window was Albian Ajeti, who was brought in from West Ham United for a transfer fee around £5 million and we all know how that worked out. The Swiss striker currently finds himself out on loan at Sturm Graz, but he has struggled to find the back of the net there consistently either.

As reported by Football Insider, while talking about Ajeti, Frank McAvennie said:

"“The money he was on was incredible but he was lazy. It might just be that the pressure got to him. Now the pressure is off him and he is enjoying it.“"

While it is easy to forget, but Ajeti had actually made a blistering start to life at Parkhead and taken very little time to get to five league goals for Celtic.

In fact, at one point of time, he was averaging a goal every 47 minutes in the league. But then, he ended up picking up an untimely injury and that appeared to derail his form completely, and he never ended up rediscovering it again.

Now, he finds himself out on loan and it is hard to see him ever being a regular contributor for Celtic again. Even if he returns at the end of the season.

Celtic already have a brilliant striker on their hands in the form of Kyogo, while they are on the verge of signing Oh Hyeon-gyu from Suwon Samsung Bluewings as well.
