After weeks of rumours and speculation, the Josip Juranovic transfer saga is finally over. The Croatian defender has left Celtic in order to join Bundesliga side, Union Berlin. It is a permanent deal and the initial transfer fee is believed to be £7.5 million, which could rise to around £10 million with add-ons.
It is safe to say that a player of Juranovic’s calibre leaving in the middle of the season is a blow to Celtic. The Croatian had been a key starter for the club since joining in the summer of 2021, and played a big part in their double in the previous campaign and the strong position that they find themselves in this time around.
Not only was Juranovic a big contributor on the pitch but a leader as well, and a very popular figure amongst the fans. Thus, it is safe to say that he will be missed around Parkhead.
Union Berlin have sent a beautiful message to Celtic fans after completing the signing of Juranovic on Twitter:
And the love the Celtic fans have shown him over the last few days is overwhelming. Not all players get that, and it's testament to the man. I hope you know we'll look after him. Eisern!

We know how much you have treasured Josip, and how much he loved playing for Celtic. So please know that we'll look after him, he'll be a hero here, and even though there's not as many of us here, we'll try to shout his name as loud as you ever could. Cheers and love. Eisern!

Union Berlin send beautiful message to Celtic fans after signing Juranovic
It is safe to say that Juranovic leaving is not a good thing for Celtic and their quest to win all three domestic titles this season.
But at the same time, one also needs to point out the fact that Alistair Johnston has been very good since arriving this January and looks like someone who can do an excellent job at right-back for Celtic.
They also have another very good option in the form of Anthony Ralston, who has proven himself as a reliable right-back over the past season-and-a-half under the management of Ange Postecoglou.
On the other hand, we can only wish Juranovic the best of luck on his new journey and hope that he achieves all the success in the world at Union Berlin.
